Our Mission.....
We, at ICX, are always committed to providing web services like College Email Account,
Personal Web Space, Student Server and other related facilities to all students
of ISM University.
Our vision is divided into three phases.
The first phase is providing mail service with the institute’s domain along with
personal web space. Depending on the response, we shall establish a Students’ Server
in the next phase. A students’ server will enable us to run a 24 hour hub of DC++,
provide direct access to the latest version of soft-wares with their regular updates,
can provide space up to 1 gb to each registered member which can be accessed from
anywhere within the campus and much more, all at a stunning speed of 100 mbps.
In the final phase, we plan to set up a Mail Server at ISM University. A Mail server
provides email service on its own and removes our dependency (as in this case) on
Google and others to provide free email service. Once the server is installed, it
will be ensured that future generations of ISMites are provided with college email
ids at no cost.
Story Behind ICX.....
Being a stalwart in Earth Science related branches since its inception in 1926 it
is sad to see that the student and faculty members lack an email account
or web space with the college domain. A survey
conducted by MD showed an overwhelming demand among students for such personal space.
Buoyed by the response, we approached the authorities, but due to various hindrances,
it soon became clear that its execution would not be possible. Hence, we conceptualized
a solution by getting the ‘ismu.ac.in’ registered under Education
& Research Network of India (ERNET).
Soon we could see the far-reaching impact and extensive services that could be provided
to the ISMU community. Hence, we formed ICX- an ancillary organization of MD to
cater to these services.
