An 'Ailing' Health Centre

In the light of the tragic incident which took place in IIT Kgp when a 3rd year student passed away due to medical negligence, we try to assess how adequate the health facilities in ISMU really are.
A survey conducted among the students of ISMU reveals the widespread dissatisfaction with the health facilities available in the campus. While more than 98% agree that the Health Centre is not equipped to handle emergencies, over one-third of the students say that the medicines prescribed to them have not been effective with some even going to the extent of calling them “hazardous”.A shocking 26.5% of students who took part in the survey said that they had been diagnosed wrongly. In some of these cases, the actual situation was rather serious but the doctors passed it off as minor illnesses.
